With a team of 170 skilled people, Windy produce models ranging from 26 to 60 feet with the WINDY Sport Series and WINDY SR Series Chase Boats & Yacht Tenders.
The story behind Windy is an inspiring one. Hugo’s father was a fisherman – a notoriously dangerous job – and his family had many anxious moments awaiting his return as storms raged in the Skagerrak. All his father’s boats were called ‘Vindy’, and he brought every one of them safely back to port, storm or no storm.
Vold shared his father’s love of, and deep respect for, the sea. Following his university education he became a boatbuilder. He wanted his vessels to be known for their seaworthiness and high quality, and he called his company ‘Windy’ to pay homage to his father’s trust-worthy vessels.
At a time when Scandinavian producers ruled the European market, revolutionising boating and showing millions how to have fun on the water, Vold hired the best designers, sought out the finest boat builders and craftsmen and not only created a world-beating brand, but succeeded in turning the Windy name into a marque of quality.

55 years on, Windy Boats is proud to live according to Vold’s legacy, and to build production and custom displacement motor boats which are acknowledged throughout the world as second to none.
Windy’s reputation is built on quality and craftsmanship. The award-winning deep v-hulls are renowned for delivering an exhilarating, yet stable and dry ride. Their production facilities are among the most advanced in Europe, employing resin transfer moulding to produce stronger, lighter, more fuel-efficient hulls. When it comes to interiors, Windy works with leading superyacht designers to effortlessly blend Scandinavian style with luxurious furnishings. Before they hit the water, every boat is hand-finished with Windy’s customary perfectionism using the highest quality components and finest materials.
The Windy range is split into three main categories – Sport Cruisers, the SR Line and Yacht Tenders.
The Sport Cruisers lineup includes; the W27 Solano; W27 Solano RS; W32 Grand Zonda; W32 Grand Zonda RS; W34 Alizé; W37 Shamal; W40 Camira RS.
The SR Line consists of the SR28 CC, the SR44 and the SR44 SX.
Last but not least, the Yacht Tenders collections includes the SR26, the SR44 PRO, SR52 and the SLR/SR60.
