At Stoneways we are delighted to support The International Paint Poole Regatta as a sponsor. The 2024 regatta will be taking place across the May bank holiday from the 25th to 27th May and will see around 200 boats on the water competing for line honours. Over 16 yachting classes ranging from thoroughbred racing boats to club cruiser racers will be competing on 5 courses in Poole Bay and Harbour over the 3 day event.
Making up the regatta fleet there will be up to 4 IRC Classes competing in the GBR IRC National Championship, 2 Stoneways VPRS Classes racing for their Championship, the J80 National Championship, J24 Southern Area Championship – a 2025 J24 Worlds Qualification Event, the Sonata Regional Championship and the 2.4mR National Tidal Championship. Other keel boats on the water include the Performance 40’s, Cape 31’s, First 40.7’s, Fast 40’s, HP30’s, the Quarter Ton Class, J70, J80, J24, XOD, Flying 15, Shrimper, Redwing and R19. It is a true racing spectacle, enabling a wide number of the yachting community to get together and do what they love best. Helping to support this is hugely important to the Stoneways team.
All entrants to Poole Regatta are competing for the historic Canford Cup, which dating from 1849 actually predates the famous Auld Mug of the America’s Cup! Kept on display in Poole Museum it is brought out of the collection every two years and presented to the overall winner of the regatta. The regatta is organised by the combined yacht clubs of Poole, comprising of Parkstone Yacht Club, Poole Yacht Club, Royal Motor Yacht Club, Lilliput Sailing Club, Poole Yacht Racing Association, East Dorset Sailing Club, North Haven Yacht Club and Redclyffe Yacht Club. Between the experienced club volunteers is a huge amount of organising experience, organising a world class keel boat regatta with fantastic racing and popular social events.
You can catch the various members of the Stoneways team both on the water and ashore at the Poole Regatta with Keith competing in his Ecume De Mer, “QT”. Early bird entry closes on April 14th so it’s time to get your entry in and enjoy what we think is one of the best yacht racing events in the UK.
