Stoneway’s QT takes third at the annual Taittinger Regatta.
The annual Taittinger regatta, sponsored by Taittinger Champagne took place on the 12th to 14th July hosted by the Royal Solent Yacht Club for the 16th edition. The event sees over 1,000 sailors taking part with over 180 boats entered for this year’s edition and spread across two race courses in the Solent.
Stoneway’s very own ‘QT’ skippered by Keith Lovett set off from Parkstone Yacht Club on Friday morning making the journey up to Yarmouth, in time for the ever popular Taittinger Champagne reception party which is a firm favourite amongst sailors.
Day 1 saw racing postponed by an hour due to little wind, which then slowly funnelled through the Solent meaning racing could get underway. Race one was very close between the front of the fleet with ‘QT’ taking 4th and taking 2nd in race two in a fleet of 17. Post racing, the team enjoyed the very popular Towers Party which featured live music and fireworks to end the day.
Day 2 only had one race scheduled with a light SW breeze channelling through the Solent, the final race of the weekend saw the Stoneway’s crew take 4th putting them in 3rd overall to end the weekend of sunshine, light sea breeze and plenty of socialising.
